Over the years, it has been scientifically proven that light and sound can have a significant effect on the human body’s degree of stimulation and responsiveness. This reality has, at some point, affected the ability of some people to sleep and to wake up perfectly. Some go to bed feeling unrealistic and awoke feeling dazed and unhappy. This is so, once people deviate from the natural order of things, disorderliness and imperfection become the result. However, there is a great and easy way to tackle this problem: the use of light therapy via innovative devices.
An innovative device in this sense is a wake-up light that functions both as an alarm bell and a light simulator. Wake-up lights are designed to change your sleeping and waking experience by mimicking the natural order of when to sleep and when to wake-up, based on simulating the natural sunrise and sunset. The Lumie Body Clock Active 250 Wake-Up Light is a typical example of these modern, innovative devices.
The Lumie Body Clock Active 250 Wake-Up Light
is a light therapy that provides realistic sunrise and sunset simulation—mimicking natural light at dawn and dusk, making the processes of going to sleep and waking up a realistic and natural one. The device allows the user to set the duration of the simulation period to be at 15, 20, 25, 30, 45, 60 or 90. This provision allows the user to choose his/her wake-up time experience according to preference.
Acting as a dawn simulation alarm clock, the Lumie Body Clock Active 250 Wake-Up Light wakes you up from sleep with a sunrise light beaming that gradually brightens per the pre-set simulation period. To make the wake-up more realistic and natural, the device comes with six inbuilt natural sounds, one of which can be set to the pre-set simulation period, and which will begin to beep or snooze once the maximum brightness level is reached. There is a nine minutes-gap function the user can operate to ensure the sound will keep increasing until he or she finally wakes up.
The process mentioned above can also be used as a sunset feature to simulate night sleep and help you go to bed naturally.

Great Audio Sounds and White Noise Functionality
Like with most other light therapies, the Lumie Body Active 250 wake-Up Light features six different natural sounds designed to help the user wake up and go to sleep. The six sounds included in the audio alarm settings of the Lumie Body Active 250 are; morning bird’s song, rooster crowing, white noise, alarm bells, waves and FM Radio frequency. Once the simulation clock is pre-set to sunset mode, the user will be lulled to sleep by the gentle white noise effect or waves sound. There is an optional standard alarm beep sound available as an additional feature, which the user can disable or use.
Solid Light Display
The essential quality in measuring a successful light therapy product is its ability to simulate full light display capacity under different settings, and the Lumie Body Clock Active 250 Wake-Up Light complies with this requirement. This device features an all-around dimmable LCD with a 42-watts halogen light bulb capable of bright white shining light display. The bulb is energy efficient and can last for a very long time.
The light changing of the Lumie Body Active 250 has a good and smooth transmission process. There are no sudden changes regarding light intensity. The transmission starts from a gradual process—orange color—and proceed gradually to the level of an intense white light, making the sunrise and sunset functions to look natural and realistic. This is far better than the traditional alarm clock known for their abrupt and rude sense of wake-ups.
Additional Settings and Comfort
The Lumie Body Clock Active 250 has some other mouth-watering customizable settings that you can exploit to your advantage. You can decide to wake up only by the light function, or with light and sound or light with radio. The wake-up volume can be adjusted to suit your hearing ability, even as you can also regulate the brightness level of the display light to suit your eye preference and sensitivity to light.
One great extra feature of the Lumie 250 is that it also functions as a security check, which randomly and automatically turns on and off the clock’s light to create the impression that someone is at home. The Lumie Body Clock Active 250 Wake-Up Light comes with a backup battery designed to keep your alarm time and settings safe in the event there is a power outage.
It is easy and even more comfortable to use in that all your settings are saved and can be turned on the following day just by tapping a single button.

What is the bad side?
There is no product that’s devoid of negative issues, and the Lumie Body Clock Active 250 is not an exception. The controls are not intuitive, but very difficult to operate, even with the instruction manual. They have no word-markings and are very small, meaning for people with difficult eyesight; this is an enigma.
The Lumie Body Clock Active 250 is a high quality design light therapy, in particular with the battery backup and its ability to completely turn off the display clock—a significant advantage over the renowned Philips models. The sunrise simulation is top class, and it has lots of other customizable settings, but its overall settings are not that easy to operate. I’ll score it 8.0 overall because there is little you can find wrong with it except maybe the high price point. Overall, the Lumie Body Active 250 Wake-Up Light and Alarm Clock is worth buying.
